The Cleveland Cavaliers are somehow in an enviable position.
If the blockbuster deal goes through, they will have a point guard in Isaiah Thomas who’s coming off a year in which he outperformed Kyrie Irving (with a considerable amount) during the regular season.
If the hip of the new acquisition remains debatable, LeBron James is going to be capable of shouldering more responsibilities, while Kevin Love and Jae Crowder team up to maintain the 2016 winners playing at a high level. Let’s not forget the impact of adding Ante Zizic as frontcourt depth.
If the trade is vetoed due to Thomas’ health, the Cavaliers will soldier with a malcontent Irving or locate a taker for its point protector. They’ll remain loaded with talent.
This offseason is going to be deemed a failure if they can not find a huge yield for Irving–along with the Thomas swap certainly qualifies as such–because addressing their biggest problem (defense) wasn’t just done with the improvements of Derrick Rose, Jose Calderon and Jeff Green. But they could score with aplomb, and that will make them heavy favorites.
Because his era swells james does not seem to have declined. Love loves more chemistry than ever and Tristan Thompson is advancing. Nearly all of the pieces fit together well, however it is 1 although this may be an old roster.
